Young people in East Herts have been making handmade cards and writing poems to send out to older people across Hertfordshire who receive Meals on Wheels, Emergency Food and Grocery Bag services, to help them feel more connected with their local community during these challenging times. The initiative was led by YC Hertfordshire Services for Young People, part of Hertfordshire County Council.

YC Hertfordshire North Herts team is now helping young people get involved in their local communities from the safety of their own homes. Youth council meetings are now happening virtually via video and young people have been busy putting together some top tips for their peers.

Wednesday 18 March is National Child Exploitation Awareness Day which encourages everyone to think, spot and speak out against abuse (including sexual abuse) and adopt a zero tolerance to adults developing inappropriate relationships with children or children developing inappropriate relationships with other children.

Year 8 students at Goffs Academy recently took part in some of the YC Hertfordshire Services for Young People “Navigate Your Future” workshops where they explored careers, the diversity of the jobs market, skill sets needed for the future job sector, and what steps they need to take in the next few years to identify the career path they want to pursue.

A celebration of LGBT+ History took place at the Trestle Arts Base this week, with the launch of an anthology of poems about gender, identity and diversity, with Hertfordshire County Council - YC Hertfordshire Services for Young People.
