70 young people from across Hertfordshire were recognised for their outstanding achievements at this year’s Hertfordshire County Council’s youth service, YC Hertfordshire Young People’s Awards Ceremony at County Hall in Hertford on Wednesday 7th November.

National Care Leavers’ Week 2018 took place from 24th to 31st October, and this year’s theme was ‘Aspire’ - encouraging aspiration and enabling all young care leavers to reach their full potential. Based around this theme, YC Hertfordshire held four events across the county for all Hertfordshire care leavers and those preparing to leave care.

496 young people from St Albans and Hertsmere took part in this summer’s National Citizen Service (NCS) programme, equipping them with the vital skills and confidence needed as they approach adulthood.

The community-minded 16 and 17 year olds each completed a week of activities, a week-long residential stay which included skills building, followed by a social action project to benefit their local communities.
