‘Get in – Go far’ - Apprenticeship Fair at YouthPoint
22 March 2016
Young people in Watford and Three Rivers had a great opportunity to visit an Apprenticeship Fair at YouthPoint on Friday 18th March, co-ordinated by Youth Connexions together with Jobcentre Plus and West Herts College, to tie in with National Apprenticeship Week.
Twenty-one employers and training providers provided displays and were there to answer questions and showcase opportunities to the young people who attended. In addition, the West Herts College Apprenticeship Bus was on site, allowing young people the opportunity to try out practical skills such as hairdressing and plumbing.
Richard Harrington MP supported the event
There were a wide variety of careers represented and opportunities were on offer for apprenticeships in health care, construction and The Army among others. Richard Harrington MP was pleased to open and support the event and took the opportunity to speak to both exhibitors and young people.
Feedback from exhibitors was very complimentary about the event. Brett and Gert from 3AAA commented, ‘It’s been very useful, we’ve really enjoyed the day, we would definitely come back next year. We have four interviews lined up for Monday and one on Tuesday’.
Young people wanting to find out more about apprenticeships can call into the Youth Connexions One Stop Shop at YouthPoint, Lower High Street, WD17 2EL Monday to Friday 2pm - 5pm or can click here
