Halloween Charity Fundraiser at West Hyde Youth Centre

31 October 2017

The transformation of YC Hertfordshire’s West Hyde Youth Centre into a haunted house for a Halloween bonanza on Friday evening was a resounding success with the local community.

More than 100 people attended the event put together by young people from the YC Hertfordshire Three Rivers Youth Forum – raising more than £200 on the night for the Short Breaks Centre, which supports young people with learning disabilities and complex health needs.

The event was the brainchild of the Three Rivers YC Youth Forum, which wanted to find a way to raise money for this worthwhile local charity while bringing the community together for a fun event and raising the profile of the YC Youth Forum.

Activities included mask making, pumpkin carving, face-painting, apple-bobbing and general arts and crafts as well as the chance to experience the ‘haunted room’ for those who dared!

Homemade cakes and biscuits were on sale, made by the young people themselves, who had spent their half-term preparing and organising for the event and decorating the centre.

As well as local residents, the event was attended by County Councillor Ralph Sangster and District Councillor Angela Killick.

Sylvia Ball, a local resident who attended the event, said: “Well done! What hard work you have all done. You should be so proud of all you achieved.  Keep up the good work.”

A parent added: “Fabulous event – so lovely to see so many people smiling and enjoying themselves. It’s great to see the hard work of all that attend the Youth Centre. Great work guys!”
