Pop-up advice creates a buzz in Hertford town centre
03 June 2016
Youth Connexions hold events in all sorts of locations so that young people can better access guidance and support. The latest location was Hertford town centre, on a very chilly day during half term week.
The Youth Connexions mobile project acted as a pop-up in the high street and offered some quiet space for young people to discuss their future.
Practitioners offered advice on careers choices, a particularly popular topic as the academic year nears its end.
Eleanor, an Animal Care/Management student at Capel Manor College, was one of the young people who dropped in. She said “I think that we are really lucky to have Youth Connexions. Lots of my friends at college struggle to get quality advice but in Hertfordshire we have a network of places we can go to see an adviser. I think it’s great”
Youth Connexions Senior Personal Adviser Sian Shadbolt commented “It was great to meet young people in the town centre to let them know about the services Youth Connexions offer. We were able to discuss queries from young people about a number of different career paths.”
Employment and Training Adviser Coral Deja added “Despite it being uncharacteristically cold there were lots of young people in town. I spoke to a number of young people and was able to let them know about the youth projects in Ware and Hertford as well as how they can access Youth Connexions guidance in their school.”
