Welwyn Hatfield Youth Council goes from strength to strength
18 May 2016
Youth Connexions runs the Welwyn Hatfield Youth Council in partnership with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. This year, 15 enthusiastic young people have joined and are giving up their time every week to help address the issues that affect local young people.
Led by Youth Council Chair Harry, the group have already supported events such as ‘Crucial Crew’ in local schools and have visited the Houses of Parliament in London. A previous success of the youth council was the ‘Unsaid’ campaign which raised awareness and provided training to local teachers and young people on mental health; the new team aims to maintain this initiative.
For this coming year the main campaign they have chosen is to raise awareness about young carers in Welwyn and Hatfield. They have already begun research and networking with existing groups. They are currently working on a name and logo.
