YC Hertfordshire Employment Project in Watford - Newly employed sports coach, Elliot, thanks YC Hertfordshire in Watford for his success!
25 May 2018
Elliot, 17, from Watford is one of the successful participants who recently completed the Pathways to Success programme designed to help young people gain work experience and achieve their career ambitions.
Elliot called into YC Hertfordshire’s YouthPoint in Watford as he was unemployed and looking for a career in sports coaching, but was unsure how to go about it. He was finding it difficult to approach employers and was lacking in confidence, and unsure about how to put together his CV.
YC Hertfordshire staff encouraged him to take part in Pathways to Success a programme delivered by them through funding from Learn Direct– and Elliot signed up to the free programme that started in April.
Once on the programme, Elliot created a new CV and received personal coaching, careers guidance and given lessons in interview skills. He was supported to focus on what sort of job he wanted and then an inspirational two week work experience placement was organised with a sports coaching company.
As a result of this experience, and his new found confidence, Elliot applied for a permanent job and was delighted to be offered a contract, only a few weeks after initially joining the programme.
Elliot said: “I would recommend Pathways to Success to others because it will help you to find work experience in what you are looking for. I found the experience really helpful.
