Young apprentice is told “you’re hired” thanks to support from Hertfordshire County Council Youth Connexions

A Hertfordshire employer was a very satisfied customer after Youth Connexions helped Dine Contract catering to fill an apprenticeship vacancy.

Personal Adviser in St Albans, Hilary Stephens, helped Jarred to apply for the role which gave him his first step into the world of work.

Jarred said: “Youth Connexions has helped me change my life for the better and get my foot in the world of work. I am very grateful for the opportunity.”

Dine Contract Catering was so happy with their apprentice, who took up the post in July that they tweeted about him, thanking Youth Connexions.

Rob Burford from the company said: “We found the recruitment process for our new apprentice efficient and effective, thanks to the help from the Youth Connexions team at St Albans. The staff evidently have clear and regular contact and a good relationship with the young people and are therefore able to find the most appropriate young people for the vacancies.

“Recruitment can be a tricky process for employers, and a scary one for a young person looking for their first job, it is important that services such as this are effective to ensure a positive outcome for all parties.”
