Young people transform Hatfield community centre
20 November 2018
Young people from Hatfield were given creative free-rein at the St John’s Community Centre in Hatfield during employability and personal development skills sessions led by YC Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire County Council’s youth service.
The project saw YC Hertfordshire working alongside young people from The Parks Educational Support Centre to clear the area at the back of the community centre before designing and painting a mural.
They worked on a design which was based around activities carried out at the community centre and after seeking approval from the church committee created the mural. The mural took 6 weeks to produce and involved learning lots of new skills including health and safety, working with spray paints and team working.
Teddy and Louie, aged 15, who helped to design and paint the mural, said:
“We enjoyed learning new skills with Mark and doing something that the Community can appreciate.”
