Why are we contacting you or your son/daughter?

YC Hertfordshire keeps in touch with young people during their transition years to offer support up until their 20th birthday. We telephone, email, text or write to young people to make sure they know we are here to help them. This is also part of our legal requirement to ensure the government's promise to help young people stay in education and training is met.

Young people make plans to stay on in school, go to college, do an apprenticeship or get a job but unfortunately, plans don’t always work out. By keeping in contact with young people we can continue to offer personal support and advice about jobs, courses, apprenticeships and training opportunities.

Each year from September through to December we make contact with all young people living in Hertfordshire to find out what they are doing and whether they need any support to help them with their future plans.

The information young people provide about their current education, work or training is used to ensure we have the right services in place. It is used confidentially within our organisation and any data derived from the contact is only used as part of a statistical picture.
