About NCS

National Citizen Service (NCS) is a fantastic life experience that reaches beyond school and is something which employers look for. Not only is NCS good fun, it’s a challenging, personal and social development programme which helps young people aged 15-17 (School Years 11 and 12) to build independence and confidence.

NCS believes that if young people are given the chance, they can make a huge contribution to their communities. To help make this happen NCS offers 15-17 years olds the opportunity to get together to try new things, then with the support of a team, they design, plan and deliver a social action project that makes a real difference to where they live.

NCS brings young people together from all different backgrounds in a common purpose and by offering new experiences, gives them the chance to learn new skills and meet new people.

YC Hertfordshire is a local delivery partner for the NCS East network and is offering 1,000 young people the opportunity to graduate from the NCS programme during 2017. YC Hertfordshire has been successfully delivering the programme since 2011.

Here's what a parent whose daughter took part in the summer 2016 NCS programme with YC Hertfordshire said:

“Just wanted to say a big thank you to you and your colleagues for running the NCS programme which my daughter Olivia has just completed. I know that she absolutely loved this experience - the challenges, new skills, working as part of a team and making new friends. I am sure this experience will benefit her personally now and in the years to come. Thank you once again and continued success in this great work you do.”
