Support for young LGBTQ people

YC Hertfordshire supports young LGBTQ people through 19 LGBTQ projects across the county and through the 'Who not What' group, which represents the voice of the young LGBTQ community of Hertfordshire at a county-wide level.

 

The Young Pride in Herts website was created by the Who not What group. It contains a wealth of information to support young LGBTQ people as well as information for parents and professionals.


YC Hertfordshire projects for young LGBTQ people

YC Hertfordshire currently runs 19 LGBTQ projects across the county. They are safe environments where you can meet other LGBTQ young people in Hertfordshire, get support, learn new things and have fun!

Borehamwood LGBTQ Project

The YC Hertfordshire LGBTQ project in Borehamwood is a weekly support group for all 18-24 year olds in the Hertsmere district who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or are questioning their sexuality. You plan the programme. There will be trips and discussions and lots of fun activities! We meet every Tuesday.

Bushey LGBTQ Project

The YC Hertfordshire Arcus LGBTQ Project in Bushey is for all young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the Hertsmere area aged 13 to 17. Come and join this enthusiastic group and meet other young LGBTQ people in your area. Arcus is a supportive project where you'll have fun and learn new creative skills such as photography, sewing, art and film-making.

Cheshunt LGBTQ Project

The 'Be Yourself Be Proud' LGBTQ Project is YC Hertfordshire's project in Cheshunt for young people aged 13-17 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning their sexuality or gender (LGBTQ). Joining the group will allow you to meet other LGBTQ young people in a safe space. You'll find the meetings informative and fun and the staff supportive to all who attend. We aim to provide a support network and opportunities for young LGBTQ people to socialise and learn new skills.

Dacorum LGBTQ Project, Hemel Hempstead

The YC Hertfordshire Dacorum Team runs the 'Happy as I am' LGBTQ Project in Hemel Hempstead for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender young people and those questioning their sexuality every Thursday evening.

North Herts LGBTQ Project, Letchworth

The YC Hertfordshire Identity LGBTQ project is for young people in the North Herts area who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or questioning their sexuality. Joining the group will allow you to meet other LGBTQ young people in a safe space. You'll find the meetings informative and fun and the staff supportive to all who attend.

St Albans LGBTQ Project, Harpenden

The YC Hertfordshire 'Happy As I Am' project is a group for young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or questioning their sexuality in the St Albans district. Joining the group will allow you to meet other young LGBTQ people. Together you will plan and work towards positive choices. You'll get to take part in a wide range of activities and discussions about different subjects that you're interested in.

Stevenage LGBTQ Project

Identity is an LGBTQ project run by the YC Hertfordshire Stevenage Team for young people in the area who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or questioning their sexuality.

Three Rivers LGBTQ Project, Rickmansworth

POWWA stands for Proud of Who We Are! This project is for young people aged 13-17 in the Three Rivers area who are exploring their identity and may need a boost in confidence. At this YC Hertfordshire LGBTQ project you can access support in a social setting, take part in activities and meet other young LGBTQ people.

Waltham Cross LGBTQ Project

This LGBTQ project is YC Hertfordshire's Broxbourne Team's project for young adults aged 18-24 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning their sexuality or gender (LGBTQ). Joining the group will allow you to meet other young LGBTQ people in a safe space. You'll find the meetings informative and fun and the staff supportive to all who attend. We aim to provide a support network and opportunities for young LGBTQ people to socialise and learn new skills.

Ware LGBTQ Project

The YC Hertfordshire Pride in Ware LGBTQ project is for young people in the East Herts area who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or questioning their sexuality or gender. Joining the group will allow you to meet other LGBTQ young people in a safe space. You'll find the meetings informative and fun and the staff supportive to all who attend. The group meets every other Thursday evening in Ware.

 

 

 

Watford PACE LGBTQ Project for 18-24s

The YC Hertfordshire PACE LGBTQ project is for young adults aged 18-24 in the Watford area who are in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community and those who are questioning their sexuality. Come and enjoy meeting other young LGBTQ people in a safe space and help plan our weekly programmes.

Watford PACT LGBTQ Project for 13-17s

The YC Hertfordshire PACT LGBTQ Project is a weekly project for young people aged 13-17 in the Watford area who are in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community and those who are questioning their sexuality. Come and enjoy meeting other young LGBTQ people in a safe space and help plan our weekly programmes.

Welwyn Hatfield LGBTQ Project

The YC Hertfordshire LGBTQ project in the Welwyn Hatfield area is a weekly support group for all young people in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans community and those questioning their sexuality. You can get involved in discussions and lots of fun activities including trips! You plan the programme. We meet every Monday and it runs during the school holidays too.

Bishop's Stortford Transgender Project

YC Hertfordshire Bishop's Stortford Gendered Intelligence Project is open to all young people who live, work, or are educated in East Herts and who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender fluid and/or questioning their gender. It is run by YC Hertfordshire to provide a safe space for a social and supportive group. The Bishop's Stortford group meets fortnightly on Wednesdays.

 

Dacorum Transgender Project, Hemel Hempstead

The YC Hertfordshire Discovery Transgender Project is open to all young people aged 13-17 who live in the Dacorum district and who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender fluid and/or are questioning their gender. If this is you, come and join us every Friday from 6.30 to 8.30pm. It is a safe space for a social and supportive group.

North Herts Trans Project, Letchworth

The YC Hertfordshire iDENTITY Trans Project takes place in North Herts on the last Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9pm. We offer young people aged 14-17 who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender fluid and/or questioning the opportunity to make friends with other trans young people in a safe, supportive environment. Come and talk about the things that matter to you, relax and have fun. Our friendly youth workers are waiting to meet you. Prefer to meet us first? North Herts 18-24 Trans Project, Letchworth

Looking for an opportunity to meet other young people aged 18-24 who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender fluid and/or questioning in your area? iDENTITY 1824 meet in North Herts on the first Wednesday of every month, 5.30-7.30pm. Informal, relaxed and supportive, we meet in the community to socialise and talk about the things that matter to you. Our friendly youth workers are waiting to meet you. Prefer to meet us first? St Albans Transgender Project, Harpenden

Stevenage Transgender Project

The YC Hertfordshire Stevenage Transgender Project is open to all young people who live, work, or are educated in the Stevenage area of Hertfordshire and who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender fluid and/or questioning their gender. It is run by YC Hertfordshire which aims to provide a safe space for a social and supportive group. The Stevenage group meets on the first Wednesday of every month.
